Imphal, May 15 (NNN): A prominent RTI activist of Manipur has demanded the removal of state information commissioner Ch Birendra Singh saying the officer has failed to carry out his duty. Joykumar, an outspoken and gutsy RTI activist alleged that information had been sought through official channel but in most cases Ch Birendra Singh did not cooperate. The RTI activist said the state information commissioner often pre-occupied with playing games in the computer allotted to him by the government after locking himself inside whenever the RTI activists come for seeking information.
Joykumar said that Ch Birendra is incompetent in discharging his official duty. He demanded that the officer in question is removed immediately in the interest of the public. Joykumar then said the RTI activists had submitted memorandum to the state governor twice earlier this year demanding the removal of Ch Birendra Singh but to no avail.
