State govt cautioned against sidelining ZPO

Kohima, June 2 (MExN): The Zeliang People Organization (ZPO) Nagaland has resolved to formalize its stand and status as the apex tribal Council of the Zeliang people, the recognized Naga tribe in Nagaland. The 2nd general assembly, of Zeliang People Organization (ZPO) Nagaland was held at the Town Hall Peren on May 27. Around 200 delegates attended the assembly from various villages.
A press note jointly appended by President ZPO N. Azu Newmai and general secretary Kiesamyi Iranggaung, and Heisuipeung Iheilung, deputy speaker informed that the Assembly unanimously voted to adopt resolutions that concern the Zeliang people of Nagaland under Peren district.
The note also stated that the house took a serious note of resentment over the habitual fact of sidelining and depriving Zeliang Organizations by the state government and thus reiterates that the ZPO represents the Zeliang people under Peren district. It further cautions that the governmental agencies give up the despicable habit of sidelining the ZPO, Nagaland and its affiliated organizations hereafter.
The note further mentioned that Longbe Meru Ex-MLA and Advisor ZPO and AK Lungalang dwelt on the topic ‘Indigenous Zeliang, their land and Intangki reserved forest’, while Heirangying Lungalang, Joint Secretary P & AR spoke on the topic ‘4% backward reservation and related issues on employment’.
