NSCN (IM) & GoI meet for third consecutive day
Meanwhile, formal talks between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) continued for a third consecutive day today in New Delhi without any breakthrough.
Today’s meeting, which occurred during the morning between Government of India Interlocutor and Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi and the NSCN (IM) collective leadership led by General Secretary, Th Muivah failed to break the stalemate on the contentious issues of the Naga flag and constitution.
A senior NSCN (IM) leader informed that another meeting was scheduled on Wednesday evening, but could not take place. He added that the next round of talks would be held on October 31, the reported deadline set by the Government of India to resolve the Indo-Naga issue.
The reported October 31 “deadline” assumes significance for the Government of India, as the announced bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir State into two Union Territories will officially take place on that day.
The leader informed that the NSCN (IM) as well as the Government of India have remained firm on their stands regarding the Naga flag and constitution. He stated that if the Government of India is “flexible,” the NSCN (IM) would also be willing to come to terms with the situation.
