Stereo Groove officially released their new single and music video titled ‘ASCEND’ during a launch event held at Urban Hub Cafe, Mokokchung, on June 15 evening.
Marking a new chapter in their musical journey, the band described ASCEND as a deeply personal creation inspired by struggles, resilience and the courage to keep moving forward.
Speaking about the song, Stereo Groove shared that ASCEND is more than just music but “a story crafted out of pressure, doubt, and moments we don’t always talk about.” The band said the track reflects the idea of rising even during difficult times and choosing to stand despite unseen struggles.
“Tonight, we don’t just release a song, but a piece of our world to the world. If it finds a place in your heart, then we’ve already won,” the band expressed.
They further stated that they hope listeners will not only hear ASCEND but feel its message — that no matter how low life gets, one does not have to remain there. The band also extended gratitude to everyone who supported and believed in their journey, stating that the release belongs as much to their supporters as it does to them.
The song was officially released by MMC Councillor Imkumniba, who congratulated the band and described the launch as “a celebration of a dream brought to life.” He encouraged young musicians to embrace originality, passion and creativity, while stating that music has the power to connect people and inspire others.
Sharing his thoughts on the track, Imliakum Aier, frontman of The Electric Cool Kid, praised ASCEND as a mature composition, highlighting its well-written riffs, strong vocals and breakdown section. He added that the song shows a new direction for the band with a heavier yet impressive sound.
Former Stereo Groove frontman Imli also congratulated the band, calling the song a “total headbanger” with powerful riffs and crisp vocals. Reflecting on its message, he appreciated the line, “there’s a reason you’re alive and if you’re standing, it’s not over,” saying that such songs motivate people to keep pushing forward.
Temsu Clover also praised the track, saying ASCEND “blew my mind” and expressed excitement over the release.
Stereo Groove comprises Along Jamir on vocals, Wapang Walling on guitar, Ayoung Jamir on guitar, Wapang Jamir on bass, and I Loma Imsong on drums.
