Stolen truck, laptop recovered; two held with arms

DIMAPUR, MAY 11 (MExN): A truck stolen from Goalpara, Assam was recovered in Dimapur enroute to Manipur on May 10. According to a press release from the Additional Superintendent of Police, Dimapur, the truck (AS 18/9812) was intercepted at the Chumukedima police check post. A verbal complaint was received in this regard from the owner of the vehicle, one Fazal Haque of Goalpara, the day before, the release stated.
Seven persons, who were found travelling in the truck were arrested and were forwarded to Goalpara police station. The arrested have been indentified as one Abdul Haque, a Md. Shahjahan Ali, one Azzad Ali, a Shahan Islam, one Hanid Ali, a Sattar Ali and one Sukar Ali.
Earlier, on May 9 West PS personnel recovered a stolen laptop. According to the release a complaint was received from a resident of Riverbelt colony on May 6, informing of a missing laptop. It was recovered from Notun Basti, while the thieves were in the process of disposing off the stolen item to one unidentified ‘customer’. The thieves identified one Ajay Sonar, a Michael Konyak and one Mughavi Awomi were arrested and a case registered against them.

Troops of the 24 Assam Rifles while conducting routine security frisking on May 1 at Signal Basti arrested two persons in the possession two illegal .22 bolt action rifles. The arrested were identified as one Amat Konyak and one Achai Konyak. The arrested were produced at the sub-urban police station and a case was registered.
