Dimapur, April 16 (MExN): The 26 Aonglenden constituency’s NPF candidate Toshipokba Longkumer has called upon the youth to be a part of the movement for transformation of the constituency. He also stated that youth are the “instrument of change for the better”.
The candidate in a press statement today has appealed the constituency, stating, “…it is my special appeal to all of you to give me your mandate to enable me to serve you.”
He has also called upon the NPF co-workers and supporters of Aonglenden to come together as one.
On awarding him the NPF ticket for the by-election, Toshipokba said: “I thank the almighty God for calling to me to serve the people of Aongleden even in a very humble way. I am indeed grateful to Dr. Shurhzoelie the President of NPF and Neiphiu Rio the honorable Chief Minister of Nagaland and Shri. Imkong the honorable Home Minister for posing their confidence and awarding the NPF ticket to me for the prestigious 26 Aonglenden constituency. I am prepared to give my best effort to fulfill the responsibilities placed on my shoulder.”
The candidate also mentioned that he was deeply moved by the good gesture of Pangerla Longkumer, Imtikumzuk and Limakumzuk for sacrificing their bright prospect and paving the way for him. “Three of you, as matured leaders, have truly demonstrated that NPF stands for self sacrifice in the larger interest of the people. My respect knows no bound to three of you for supporting my candidature and all of us together will achieve our common goal. I strongly urge the youngsters to emulate their good example. I am also grateful to the Mokokchung Unit, NPF for your support and the Ungma Village Council for your guidance,” he stated.
Also on the “stagnation in development and growth sector in the 26 Aonglenden constituency”, he said that it was left unaddressed for too long under the Congress. “The numbers of educated unemployed youths are escalating while infrastructure is almost non-existent. This is a clear indication that a very senior Congress politician who repeatedly elected from this constituency has totally neglected his own area. However, it is undeniable fact that within a few years of NPF rule, much has improved,” he said.
