Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, conducted a training programme for laboratory technicians at the Conference Hall of District Hospital Dimapur on August 28.
The programme aimed at strengthening laboratory capacity for the diagnosis and surveillance of vector-borne diseases, an official release said.
The training focused on enhancing technical knowledge and practical skills in the diagnosis of malaria, dengue, Japanese encephalitis and chikungunya.
Dr George Thirah, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Dimapur, delivered the opening remarks, while Dr Ayangla Saku, Joint Director and District Vector Borne Officer (DVBO), NVBDCP, delivered the keynote address.
Senior Microbiologist Dr K Pewezokhalo provided the background to the training, while Imsubenla, Public Health and Training Consultant, NVBDCP, spoke on recording and reporting.
Dr Epibeni Humtsoe chaired the training programme.
The programme concluded with a commitment to further strengthen laboratory services and technical capacity across the state for effective prevention, control and elimination of vector-borne diseases.
