Tribe Fighting Championship to host pro MMA ‘fight night’ in Dimapur

Tribe Fighting Championship (TFC) is set to host a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight night featuring local and international talents, on November 2 at the Indoor badminton stadium, near DC Court Dimapur. 

Announcing this at a press conference held at the Combat Academy, Chümoukedima on October 9, the event is being co-organised with Ahibi, a newly launched online booking platform. Khriemelie Metha co-founder of TFC stated that the main fight of the night would be between Neitso Angami and Jawed Ahamdi from Afghanistan in the 68kg catchweight category.

The other matchups include, AbotoAyemi vs Nikunj Sharma – 56.7kg flyweight, Arsenba Ozukum vs Ebiangmi Langstang – 56.7kg flyweight, Michael Rovei vs Jonibor Tron – 61.2kg bantamweight, Mairidin Newmai vs Carrymore Rumnong – 61.2kg bantamweight, Amrith Krishna vs Thoidingjam Goroba - 61.2kg bantamweight kickboxing. Vipu Zhimomi vs Chingangbam Birju Singh - 52kg strawweight kickboxing. 

“These are all going to professional athletes trained in kickboxing and MMA,” Metha stated. Another unique addition to the event will be featuring a taekwondo exhibition bout in a caged stetting. “We are trying to incorporate taekwondo inside an MMA arena,” he added. 

Tickets for fight night begin from Rs 699 (general), premium gallery for Rs 1500, floor seats priced at Rs 2000 and the cage side seating for Rs 6000. Kakivi Chishi, marketing head  for TFC mentioned that the tickets will be exclusively available at ahibi.in, with entry to the venue opening from 5:00 PM onwards. “There will be tickets available at the venue on the day itself,” he said.  

For Metha, a broader intention of hosting the TFC fight night is to take combat sport to further heights and making Nagaland the fight capital of India.  As for the size of the audience, they expect about 1500-1800 to attend the event.
