Colo Mero, Director, Life Ministries, addresses the 60th general session of the SSU on December 30.
Sakraba, January 2 (MExN): The Sakraba Students’ Union (SSU) held its 60th General Session on December 30, 2025, with Colo Mero, Director, Life Ministries, attending as the guest speaker.
Speaking on the theme “Harnessing Human Capital,” Mero said that the need of the hour was not more graduates but educated students equipped with skills and ready for the workplace. He lamented that many students who pass out are not only unemployed but also unemployable.
At the same time, he said that true riches are not measured by houses, cars or money, but lie in the dreams and talents of young people if they are nurtured and guided, describing this as the real “capital.” He urged parents not to leave discipline and moral teaching solely to Sunday schools or educational institutions and emphasised that parents must take ownership and responsibility.
The presidential address was delivered by Dr Nusa, President of the Sakraba Students’ Union. In the evening session, the Village Council Chairman, Niehusa Cukhamu, graced the programme as the session speaker.
During the programme, the Union felicitated three students who successfully cleared competitive examinations. They included Kuzhocu Cukhamu, son of Muthasuyi Cukhamu, who cleared the NPSC (NCS) examination and secured the post of Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Class I Gazetted; Krove D Vadeo, son of Tavesuh D Vadeo, who cleared the NSSB examination and secured the post of LDA-cum-Computer Assistant under the Department of Tourism; and Zacuzo D Vadeo, son of Vedupra D Vadeo, who cleared the departmental examination conducted by the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and secured the post of Forest Guard.
