Zeliangrong newspaper launched from Jalukie

Peren | May 29 : With a view to bring about positive change, development and growth among the Zeliangrong community in particular, foster unity, create awareness on current developments, serve as a common platform for the people to promote religious, social and the cultural foundation; and above all, to act as a medium to refine and preserve the Zeliangrong dialect amidst the threat of an increasingly endangered languages, the Zeliangrong News paper, entitled “Pawan Rahaa” and “Peting Rahaa” was launched Saturday, 28th May in a small function at Jalukie town Nagaland.
The Zeliangrongs, one of the major Naga tribes, physically and emotionally separated and scattered across the three North-eastern states of India, has been for long alienated — socially and politically; and without a common platform and forum, the chasm could grow wider eventually leading to loss of identity, it stated.
While almost all the Naga tribes have successfully launched Newspapers in their own dialect, the Zeliangrong community is still yet to consistently establish a reliable enterprise as such of our own. The need for a common platform therefore has been long anticipated to re-instill the feeling of oneness and solidarity among ourselves. The lack of mutual feeling due to geographical segregation and the lack of a common medium to encourage and uplift our existing and upcoming leaders; lack of proper public information system to educate, highlight and aware the mass — all these have been the greatest bottlenecks of growth thus leading to backwardness of the community, a note from News stated.
The launching of the news paper —innovative, unbiased and focused on positive journalism — will be in good coordination with the Zeliangrong intelligentsia both from these states and outside of these states, it stated.
“We have a good number of professionals and bureaucrats in Zeliangrong forums and social networking sites like facebook who, although thousands of miles away, are very concerned for the welfare of our community. We have an intact coordination with them”, Athui Zeliang, Editor for Pawan Rahaa stated.
We look forward to be more professional and innovative in our presentation while also bringing awareness to our youth to be more aware of the already prevailing work culture even in our Naga society, he further stated.
The editors and advisors of Zeliangrong News also thanked each and every individual for supporting financially and morally towards the development of the enterprise, specially the Planning Minister TR Zeliang, S.I Jamir President NPCC,  Benjamin Newmai Secretary to Govt. of Nagaland,  Awangbou Newmai MLA 52 A/c Tamei, Kuchi Rangkau Director Hi-Tech constructions, Kelei Zeliang Secretary, Iherie Ndang SP Peren, P.F Zeliang DIGP, DK Zeliang Former PCCF, Tarie Zeliang MLA 6th A/C Tenning, Asingbou Newmai Assistant Hydrologist Govt. of Nagaland, Akhuan Gonmei Member DMC, for their substantial assistance in the setting up of the enterprise.
“The Zeliangrong newspaper, although with a humble beginning, will work for the progress and development of the community so that it eventually becomes an informed, educated and a civilized community, it stated.
