Kohima, October 8 (MExN): The ‘10th Edition of the Captain N Kenguruse, Maha Vir Chakra Memorial Football Tournament 2026-27’ being organized under the aegis of Spear Corps (Indian Army) & the Inspectorate General Assam Rifles (North) Kohima in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association will now be conducted from November 2 to 9 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Earlier, the premier state level sporting event was slated from 2 to 10 November 2026 with the matches being played at IG Stadium, Kohima and Chumoukedema Football Stadium.
The tournament has now been cut short by one day and will culminate on 9 November 2026 instead of 10 November 2026.
Further, the tournament will now be played entirely at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. These changes have been made to avoid clash of dates with the Nagaland State & Para Games (NSPG) 2026 - Football Event, whose matches will now be conducted from 10 to 14 November 2026 and the upcoming renovation of turf at the Chumoukedima Football Stadium as part of preparations for the Indian Football League which has rendered the venue unavailable for the event.
The decision for date & venue change has been arrivedat after a series of deliberations between the Nagaland Olympics Association, the Assam Rifles and the Nagaland Football Association (NFA).
The registration window also has been extended till 8: 00 PM of 17 October based on requests from potential participants owing to delay in registrations because of earlier ambiguity related to clash of dates between the two state level sporting events.
The 10th edition comes with a significant increase in prize pool from Rs 6.5 Lakhsin the last edition to Rs 8.69 Lakh.
The winning team will take home Rs 4 lakhs in this edition with significant increase in all other prizes.
