New Delhi, November 5 (MExN): Nagaland has received Rs 524 crore as its regular share of central tax devolution, following the Union government’s advance release of Rs 1,09,019 crore to State governments on November 5.

The monthly instalment, normally scheduled for November 10, was released five days ahead of schedule in view of the festive season, to enable States to accelerate capital expenditure and meet development and welfare-related expenditure, according to the Ministry of Finance.

This follows two additional instalments of Rs 524 crore each released to Nagaland on August 1 and October 31, taking the State’s additional tax devolution during 2026–27 to Rs 1,048 crore.

The latest release is part of Nagaland’s regular monthly share and is separate from the additional instalments.

Under the Union Budget Estimates for 2026–27, Nagaland is projected to receive Rs 7,341.28 crore as its share of central taxes during the financial year. The State has also estimated Rs 9,439 crore in central grants.

Together, tax devolution and central grants constitute the bulk of Nagaland’s revenue receipts, reflecting the State’s reliance on transfers from the Centre.

Tax devolution refers to the distribution of a share of the Union government’s tax revenue among States under the constitutional framework and Finance Commission recommendations. It is distinct from grants-in-aid.
