Officials along with the winners of the Men’s badminton doubles titles held at the CIHSR Hospital indoor court in Di9mapur on September 12.
Dimapur, September 12 (MExN): A mega Open Doubles Badminton Tournament organised by the 173 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Dimapur, concluded here on Saturday, with Limasunep-Masen and Kimkim Khongsai-Rhea Thapa winning the men’s and women’s doubles titles respectively.
The tournament was organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), Government of India, through its flagship Khelo India Scheme, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
Hosted at the CIHSR Hospital indoor courts, the men’s and women’s doubles categories were conducted simultaneously, drawing enthusiastic support from spectators.
The closing ceremony was graced by Polan John, NCS, Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima district, as the chief guest, while Ashok Kumar Yadav, Commandant of 173 Bn CRPF, Dimapur, delivered the welcome address.
The guests of honour included Dr Clement Momin, Head of the ENT Department at CIHSR; Ninoto I. Zhimomi, NPS, Assistant Commandant, 15 IRB; Tohokhu Achumi, CDPO, Niuland; Hinoto P Aomi, President of the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU); and Kekhwetso Khutso, Head GB, Diphupar Village.
Addressing the participants, John commended the successful conduct of the tournament and encouraged the youth to actively pursue sports as a viable career path.
The championship concluded with the distribution of certificates and cash prizes by the chief guest and attending dignitaries.
In the men’s doubles, Limasunep and Masen won the championship and received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a certificate. Khumbi and Liti finished runners-up and received Rs 6,000 and a certificate, while Kuhozhe and Hukiye secured third place and received Rs 4,000 and a certificate.
In the women’s doubles, Kimkim Khongsai and Rhea Thapa won the championship and received Rs 10,000 and a certificate. Livana and Narola were runners-up and received Rs 6,000 and a certificate, while Shekhotolu and Yashi secured third place and received Rs 4,000 and a certificate.
The successful completion of the dual-category championship marked another milestone for the 173 Bn CRPF in promoting civil-military harmony and fostering a grassroots sports culture across Nagaland.
