The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Wokha Unit carried out an on-site inspection of the foothill road stretch from Merapani to Liphanyan Doyang Bridge on April 12 last, as part of its annual action plan to assess the progress of ongoing construction works.

During the inspection, the team observed that gravel chip filling has been completed in certain sections, while extensive earth cutting has been undertaken across major portions of the road.

Construction of iron bridges at several locations is nearing completion; however, these are yet to be connected to the main roadway. The officials noted that substantial work remains pending for the overall completion of the project.

The association has appealed to the concerned department and contractors to expedite the remaining works and ensure timely completion, citing the difficulties faced by inter-state taxi operators due to the present road conditions.

As part of the inspection, the team also visited the Governor’s Camp at Liphanyan and Koro Village.

Subsequently, on April 13 and 14, the ANTA Wokha Unit conducted an observation drive from the Merapani foothills, during which several private vehicles were found operating as taxis without valid permits within its jurisdiction. “Such unauthorised operations are adversely affecting the livelihood of legitimate permit holders,” the association noted.

The team also held discussions with private vehicle operators based in Merapani (Assam), who were reportedly plying within the Wokha Unit’s jurisdiction without proper permits and allegedly violating fare structures approved by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA).

Reiterating its earlier resolution, the ANTA Wokha Unit stated that all private vehicles operating as taxis without permits under its jurisdiction have been banned with effect from March 31, 2026, following a decision adopted during its General Meeting on November 23, 2025.

The association directed all such operators to immediately cease illegal operations and obtain valid permits. It further warned that any violation would invite strict penal action as per ANTA guidelines and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, while urging the concerned authorities to intensify monitoring and take action against offenders.
