ASHAs get refresher training in Kohima & Mokokchung

Kohima/ Mokokchung, March 27 (MExN):  Refresher training courses for the Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) in Kohima and Mokokchung. 

In Kohima, it was held at office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kohima from March 24-25 where ASHAs based in Kohima Urban colonies were imparted knowledge and skills with focus on maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases and other national health programmes. 

The training focused on skill development combined with practical sessions in various health aspects which will enable the ASHA to carry out field activities effectively, especially during home visitations. 

Over the years, despite multiple challenges, ASHAs have been silently serving as the backbone of the health sector. These community health volunteers have been bridging the gap between the community and the public health system, promoting health education, hygiene, sanitation, nutrition and ensuring timely access to health care for the community. 

In Mokokchung, the training was held at CMO Office from  March 26-27 where ASHAs were re-oriented on Maternal health, child health, oral health, U-WIN mobiliser module, Anemia mukht Bharat, role of ASHAs in RI micro planning and  conducting UHNDs, maintenance of ASHA registers and records.

The resource persons  were Dr Mero, WHO (RRT), Sentirenla Consultant NUHM, Watisenla Jamir DCM, Achila Chang VCCM, Tsuknungsangla Jamir BPM and Nukshiwati Consultant NTCP.

The training was attended by the urban ASHAs of Mokokchung District.
