Black Pearls clinch UNBKK Open Futsal 7-a-Side title

Black Pearls emerged champions of the Open Futsal 7-a-Side Tournament organised by the Upper Nagabazar Baptist Khriesarüü Krotho (UNBKK) at N.S. Futsal Turf, Nagabazar, Kohima.

Black Pearls were awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with the championship trophy, while Audax FC finished as the first runners-up and received Rs 20,000.

Nagabazar Youth Organisation and Vincere FC, who lost in the semi-finals, received Rs 5,000 each.

Abu of Black Pearls was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament and received a cash prize of Rs 3,000.

Medoviu Martin Suohu, Councillor, Ward 19, Kohima Municipal Council, graced the tournament as the special guest.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Rokovisie Suokhrie, while Kethosilie Sorhie, Assistant Pastor, UNBC, invoked God’s blessings. Diethosino Bio presented a special number.

Speaking on the occasion, Zekuseto Natso, Convenor of the Organising Committee, said futsal had become one of the most popular sporting events in the state, providing easy accessibility for people of different age groups to engage in physical and mental exercise. He said the sport offered immense developmental, physical and cognitive benefits.

Vimeyiekho Vitso, Vice-President, Naga Students’ Federation, and Diezevisie Nakhro, President, Angami Students’ Union, were the match patrons for the first and second semi-finals respectively.
Metekhrielie Mejura, Finance Secretary, Kohima District Football Association, was the patron of the final match.

Medoviu Martin Suohu sponsored the prize money for the champion and first runner-up, while Achipa Rose and Thejachunuo Pienyü sponsored the prize money for the losing semi-finalists.
The Best Player of the Tournament prize was sponsored by Mhasimhale Mathew Yhome.

Other sponsors included Memento-Neiramo Mission Department (NMD), Kohima; the championship trophy by Upper Nagabazar Baptist Church Thepfuko Krofho; presentation by the grandchildren of Lt Zelul Sophie; printing and stationery by Alezo Rino; and the match ball by Vizonei Miachieo and Medokhrienuo Natso. 

The tournament patrons were Zekuseto Natso, Ketouzo Huozha, Vitha Khatso, Khrienuo Seb, Diethozelie Huozha, Menuokhrienuo Yhor, Vivotuo Shijoh and Kepeneinuo Liezietsu.
