DIIMAPUR, MARCH 30 (MExN): The District Health Societies of Wokha, Mokokchung, and Longleng, under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, conducted Block Health Melas in various locations on March 28 and 29.
In Wokha district, the health mela was organized at Old Ralan in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS). More than 230 beneficiaries received free health check-ups, including antenatal care (ANC), eye screening, audiometry tests, and screenings for malaria and non-communicable diseases.
Dr Thungchanpeni Patton, District Programme Officer (RCH/UIP), emphasized the importance of immunization and preventive healthcare. The IRCS also provided financial aid to 20 Below Poverty Line families and donated items to a children's home.
Similarly, the District Health Society Mokokchung conducted health melas at Mangkolemba and Tuli blocks, bringing healthcare services to remote areas. Over 222 people received medical consultations, dental and ophthalmic care, and on-site laboratory tests. Focused group discussions covered family planning, maternal and child health, and adolescent healthcare. Led by Deputy CMO Dr. Takosunep and DPO (UIP&RCH) Dr. Limanaro, the initiative ensured accessible healthcare for vulnerable populations.
In Longleng district, a multi-specialty health mela at Mongtikang Village on March 29 provided screenings and consultations across multiple disciplines, including general medicine, immunization, tuberculosis, and non-communicable diseases. Pregnant women received ANC check-ups, while Ayushman Insurance Cards were distributed to eligible beneficiaries. Community awareness efforts included interpersonal communication sessions and focus group discussions on family planning, maternal health, and newborn care.
