CSU support CPO

Kohima, Aug 19 (MExN): The Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU) expressed its strong and unequivocal support for the demand raised by the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) concerning the reported Transfer/Re-deployment of sanctioned posts, along with incumbent personnel, from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Phek, to the newly created Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Meluri.

The CSU acknowledged the Government's decision to strengthen the newly created Meluri District and recognises the importance of establishing an effective administrative framework for the district.

“However, such strengthening must be undertaken through the independent sanctioning of adequate posts and manpower for Meluri, without drawing upon or diminishing the existing sanctioned strength of Phek District,” the CSU stated.

The CSU is concerned that Phek District is already confronted with an acute shortage of personnel across several Government establishments, it stated adding that “Any further reduction in its sanctioned posts would further constrain the functioning of the district administration and adversely affect the delivery of essential public services.”

In this, the CSU urged the Government to review and withdraw any order involving the transfer or re-deployment of sanctioned posts from Phek District and to ensure that the administrative strength and institutional interests of Phek is protected.

The CSU firmly maintains that the strengthening of a newly created district should not come at the expense of an existing district.

The Union, through a release issued by president Povozo Soho and general secretary Rhilo Chiero, expects the Government to duly respect and safeguard the legitimate administrative and public interests of the people of Phek District.
