Delhi HC closes NDPP disqualification case after petitioner’s demise

Kohima, October 13 (MExN): The Delhi High Court has dismissed a writ petition related to a disqualification case against the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).

According to the court order dated October 8, counsel for the petitioner, late Zeneisiile Ate Loucii, informed that the petitioner had passed away and therefore had instructions not to pursue the case further. Consequently, the court disposed of the writ petition along with all pending applications.

As stated by the NDPP, the case pertained to a disqualification matter involving the party. In its statement, the NDPP expressed appreciation to the Court for passing the order and also conveyed gratitude to the petitioner’s family for their decision not to continue with the proceedings.

As per court’s record, the petitioner challenged the registration of the NDPP as a political party under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, alleging that the party had obtained registration through fraudulent means.
