The Deputy CM during his inspection at the Civil Secretariat.
Finds 18 officials absent, issues warning
Kohima, March 27 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister (Home) conducted a surprise inspection of various branches within the Home Department at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat on Thursday, accompanied by senior officers of the department. The inspection followed a circular issued on March 26.
Taking strong exception to officials who were found absent without proper leave, the Deputy Chief Minister directed that strict action be taken under the "No Work, No Pay" principle, as outlined in Government of Nagaland Office Memorandum No. AR-13/5/89 dated September 5, 1994. He emphasized that absenteeism without availing proper leave creates distress for citizens visiting the Secretariat for official work.

Following the inspection, the Deputy Chief Minister took to X expressing his disappointment.
He stated: "Accompanied by Home Commissioner Vyasan R, Special Secretary Home Limasunep Jamir, Home Secretary Shri Orenthung Patton, and others, visited the Home Department, Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima today for a surprise inspection and was deeply disappointed to find that 18 officials/employees were absent.
Accountability and discipline are the cornerstones of efficient governance. Such absenteeism not only hampers the functioning of critical departments but also affects the delivery of essential services to our people. We are taking immediate measures in this regard."

He further warned that similar surprise inspections will be conducted across all departments within the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in the coming days to ensure strict adherence to workplace discipline. The statement was issued by the Media Cell, Deputy Chief Minister’s Office (Home).
