Lahe, April 6 (MExN): The Eastern Konyak Union (EKU) today held a public rally at Khammoi village to condemn an alleged drone strike by Indian military forces that damaged a civilian house and endangered the lives of an elderly man and his grandson.
As per the press statement issued by EKU President K Akham Honwang and General Secretary PM Aman on behalf of the EKU Advisory Board, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 6 at around 2:55 am in Khammoi village.
Khammoi is a Naga village located in the Naga Self-Administered Zone (NSAZ) of Myanmar under the Eastern Konyak region.
According to the EKU, the drone dropped inside a thatch house where an old man and his grandchild were sleeping. Another explosion took place outside the house with full force, leaving a deep crater in the ground.

While no casualties were reported, the two occupants were jolted out of their sleep by gaseous emissions from the drone, the house was completely destroyed, the union claimed in its statement.
Villagers alleged that at least three drone strikes were dropped in and around the area, causing widespread panic.
The public rally, organised jointly by the EKU Civil Society, Khammoi village councils, students’ union, and church organisations, began at the Khammoi public ground and proceeded as a march from the New Colony of the village.
In its condemnation, the EKU termed the aerial attack a violation of human rights principles by the “democratic government of India.”
