DIMAPUR, MARCH 30 (MExN): Zuikhu village in Chumukedima district hosted a one-day hands-on training on composting and vermicomposting techniques for vegetable kitchen gardens. Organized by AICRP (Vegetable Crops), Nagaland Centre, SAS, NU under NEH in collaboration with the NEH Component of Onion & Garlic, the program aimed to promote sustainability through vermicomposting.

Dr. Moakala Changkiri, Scientist, AICRP (VC) and Project Incharge of NEH Component (Onion & Garlic), SAS, Nagaland University, introduced the session, highlighting the importance of eco-friendly waste management. The technical session, led by Bikram, Project Assistant, STINER-TFC, SAS: NU, focused on the methodology and benefits of vermicomposting in vegetable kitchen gardens. He emphasized that adopting vermicomposting can contribute significantly to environmental conservation and food security.

A practical session followed, where farmers were shown step-by-step vermicomposting procedures and actively participated in setting up their own compost beds. The event concluded with an interactive session, during which farmers expressed gratitude for the technical and material support, including vermicompost, earthworms, and Falcon garden tool kits. They assured full cooperation in future programs.
