Medziphema, September 12 (MExN): Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) and SFS Higher Secondary School have advanced to the finals of both the Higher Secondary and High School sections of the 9th Inter-School Football Tournament organised by the Medziphema Town Students Union.
In the first semi-final of the High School section, GHSS defeated Chakhroma Baptist Mission School 3-0 in a rain-affected encounter.
Rain flooded parts of the ground and made ball circulation difficult for both teams. Despite the challenging conditions, GHSS’s Rokovizo continued his impressive scoring form, finding the net in the 17th and 45th minutes.
Viselie added another goal in the 19th minute, capitalising swiftly after his teammate’s opening strike, as GHSS secured a commanding victory and a place in the final.
In the second semi-final, SFS Higher Secondary School edged past Modern Christian School (MCS) 1-0, with Chontinngam scoring the decisive goal in the 17th minute.
Both teams created opportunities in the remainder of the match and searched for an equaliser, but neither could convert their chances, allowing SFS to book its place in the final.
Earlier in the day, the semi-finals were graced by Visakholie Kuotsu, Deputy Ranger, and Ketholezo Makritsu, Proprietor of K. Makritsu Enterprise, who served as match patrons.
The finals are scheduled for Monday, September 14, with GHSS taking on SFS Higher Secondary School in the Higher Secondary Section and the same teams meeting in the High School Section.
