NIULAND, MARCH 30 (MExN): The All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Soybean, under the School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS, NU), Medziphema Campus, conducted a farmers’ training program under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) at Phishumi village in Zunheboto district on Thursday.
A total of 56 farmers participated in the training, which aimed to enhance the socio-economic conditions of tribal farmers in Nagaland through soybean-based interventions. The event was coordinated by the village GB and chaired by Dr. Engrala Ao, Junior Scientist (Agronomy).
Dr. Engrala highlighted the potential of soybean cultivation beyond traditional fermented products like Axone and emphasized improved production techniques, including line sowing with proper spacing. Dr. Pezangulie Chakruno, Junior Scientist (Plant Pathology), discussed biological management of key soybean pests and diseases, while Technical Assistant Dr. Sibino Dolie demonstrated the preparation of value-added soybean products.
The program included an interactive session between farmers and scientists, concluding with a vote of thanks from Dr. Pezangulie and the distribution of agricultural inputs to participants.
