The Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (KBPF) organised a Resurrection Sunday Sunrise Service at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground) on April 5.

Addressing the congregation as the speaker, KBPF President Rev Dr Ruokuovilie Sachü said, “Today, we are living at a crossroads where our Christian faith is at test. The environment around us is pressing because the Christian faith is being suppressed and challenged politically, socially and spiritually.”

He said that even in political forums in the state, “We have some of our own elected politicians who have gone against the Christian faith, degrading the sentiments of the citizens by compromising the Christian faith and stand.”

“In such a time like this, the resurrection of our Saviour Jesus Christ from the dead is an apologetic call to the Churches and believers in particular,” Rev Dr Sachü said.

“We, many times, are groping in darkness and in confusion, living and acting as if there is no hope for us. We have lost all our moral values and ethical standards of godliness and have compromised with current worldly phenomena,” he said.

Stating that the passion of Jesus is real, Rev Dr Sachü said, “It was not a mythological tale or philosophy that people in the olden days studied and passed on to us. There are movies depicting the passion of Christ in different cultures; all those are merely acting—showing how He suffered and was crucified.”

He said that the resurrection of Jesus is victory over sin, adding, “The blood of Jesus has cleansed us from all our sins, and the resurrection has given us the hope of eternity.”

“For this reason, the resurrection is the apologetic call for the Church to stand firm and strong even in the midst of all trials and temptations—even to the point of persecution and death,” Rev Dr Sachü said.

He called upon the people to come to Jesus, stop sinning, and run to His grace.

Earlier, the service was led by Wongtokiu, Vice President, KBPF.
