Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): Preparations are underway in Dimapur for the nationwide “Khelo India Samvad – Khel Ki Baat PM Ke Saath” programme scheduled for August 27 at Pranab College.
District Youth Officer (DYO), Dimapur, K Manikanta, said during a press conference that the initiative would provide an opportunity to assess grassroots sports facilities and identify areas requiring improvement. He said the observations would contribute to a model action plan for strengthening sports infrastructure, with additional capital and external funding expected to be made available for infrastructure development from the following year.
Pranab College, Regional Institute of Management College and Technical College have been selected to participate in the initiative in Dimapur. The programme will include felicitation of local sports achievers, including medal winners, those who secured government employment through sporting achievements and athletes who have attained high ranks at national-level events.
A session on careers in sports will also feature interactions with local sportspersons and coaches, providing youth an opportunity to learn about career prospects and seek guidance. The initiative is being organised in collaboration with the Sports Department and local authorities and is linked to the broader objective of promoting sports among youth and contributing to India’s target of winning 36 Olympic medals at the 2036 Olympics.
NSS Programme Officer of Pranab College Ulla Lauren Fernandez thanked the District Administration, State NSS Office and officials for facilitating the college’s participation. The coordination meeting brought together NSS representatives from institutions across Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland districts. Physical posters and digital banners were launched at participating institutions, while students will be encouraged to access the official MY Bharat portal through QR codes and submit feedback towards India’s 2036 Olympic roadmap.
The participating institutions have arranged digital projection facilities and auditoriums for the live-stream of the programme from 2 pm on August 27.
