St John Higher Secondary School, Mon, and St Joseph Higher Secondary School, Viswema (representing Kohima district) clinched the championship titles in the boys and girls Regu events respectively at the State Level 'Catch Them Young' U-14 Sepaktakraw Tournament, which concluded at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima on September 23.
In the boys category, St John Higher Secondary School, Mon, secured the top spot with a team comprising P Mommei Konyak, Mopa M Yinnyei Manlem, Hongkam Konyak, and Kamnyie Konyak. Green Valley School, Mon, finished in second place, represented by Wangba E, Sangti P, Moba B Konyak, L Nyangwang, and Wangba Konyak. Bethel Baptist Higher Secondary School, Niuland, took third place with team members Bumoi L, Buli, Tumong, Tsurito Khiphur, and Kemughapu Zhimo. Sangti P of Green Valley School was named the best player of the boys category.
In the girls category, St Joseph Higher Secondary School, Viswema (Kohima district), lifted the title, represented by Puanglu Riamei, Ganriumei Amelia Gonmei, Kungpuilu Kamei, and Gaikungna Kamei. Mungleu Valley School, Peren, stood second with Nancy, Aanen Thomsong, Hoicy Sitlhou, Peteneinuo, and Neihoijem. St Mary High School, Mon, bagged third place, represented by Wanjai, Yanon Salim, Ngeplem Konyak, Lihnyu Susanna H, and Eyam Konyak. Puanglu Riamei was declared the best player in the girls category.
Prizes were distributed to the winners by Anthony Ngullie (IAS), Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Youth Resources & Sports Department; Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of Youth Resources & Sports; and Bithungo Kikon, President of the All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA).

Addressing the closing ceremony, Anthony Ngullie congratulated all winners for showcasing their talents and abilities. "Today, you are champions, but this is just the beginning for the future tournaments that you will be facing. Your zeal and determination with hard work must continue even in the days to come," he stated, urging students to maintain focus and keep practicing for the next edition.
The closing ceremony was chaired by Jakedovo Chase, Additional Director of Youth Resources & Sports, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Nyuvitho Nyuthe, Joint Director of Youth Resources & Sports. The three-day tournament featured participation from 27 schools across 12 districts and was organized by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports in collaboration with the ANPSA.
