JALUKIE, APRIL 2 (MExN): In line with the ongoing "Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week" celebrations, ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Peren, organized a one-day training on "Backyard Poultry Production for Livelihood Improvement" in Jalukie Town on March 20. The event, aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of local farmers, saw active participation from the farming community.
Dr. KL Meena, Principal Scientist & Head of KVK Peren, highlighted the importance of scientific poultry management for income generation and sustainable farming practices. He encouraged farmers to adopt advanced techniques to improve productivity and profitability.

Menailiu, Councillor of Ward-4 Jalukie Town, congratulated KVK Peren for organizing such a beneficial program for the local farming community. She expressed her appreciation for the initiative and emphasized its positive impact on farmers' livelihoods.
Ireuga Zeliang, Councillor of Ward-2 Jalukie Town, also spoke during the event, urging participants to explore the potential benefits of scientifically managed poultry farming under the guidance of KVK. He stressed that modern farming techniques could significantly contribute to income generation.
During the technical session, Dr. L. Babita Devi, Chief Technical Officer (Animal Science), delivered a comprehensive lecture on "Backyard Poultry Production with Special Reference to Common Poultry Diseases and Their Management." Dr. Devi focused on the significance of scientific management, the use of improved poultry germplasm, and essential aspects of housing and feeding management. She also stressed the importance of deworming and vaccination in poultry farming to ensure healthier livestock.
A total of 40 participants attended the training, benefiting from valuable insights on poultry production. As part of the program, KVK Peren also distributed 600 day-old Rainbow Rooster chicks along with Lasota vaccines to the participating farmers for demonstration purposes. This initiative is expected to help the farmers enhance their poultry farming practices and improve their income sources.
