DIMAPUR, AUGUST 23 (MExN): The Combat Academy (TCA) Nagaland fighter Limasunep Imchen has advanced to the final of the Aturto MMA 8-Man Flyweight Grand Prix after his scheduled semi-final opponent failed to make weight at the official weigh-in in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, on August 22.
Limasunep, who has been training at Warriors Cove MMA in Delhi for the past four months while representing TCA Nagaland, was scheduled to compete in the flyweight semi-final. With his opponent unable to meet the required weight, Limasunep was awarded qualification to the final. He will now compete for the Aturto Flyweight Championship belt and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh. The final is scheduled to be held in December.
Meanwhile, another TCA fighter, Thanmi Angkang, competed in a professional flyweight bout at the Mixed Martial Arts Fight Night held as part of Royal Enfield GRRR Underground Nights in Mumbai on August 23.
Thanmi faced Maharashtra’s Altamash Siddiqui in his second professional bout. Despite Siddiqui reportedly weighing almost 1 kg above the expected limit, Thanmi accepted the contest, which went the full three rounds. He was subsequently handed a unanimous decision loss. Thanmi has been part of the TCA fight team for four years and heads the grappling classes at the academy’s Duncan branch.
