KOHIMA, OCTOBER 12 (MExN): The Lions International Peace Poster Contest 2025, organised by the Lions Club of Kohima, was held on October 10 at the Red Cross Conference Hall, Kohima, under the global theme “Together As One.”
Altogether, 24 students from 13 schools, 11 in the competitive category and two in the non-competitive category, participated in the annual event, showcasing creative artworks that conveyed powerful messages of peace and unity.
Veteran artist and member of the East Asian Artist Forum, Nicky Kire, served as the judge. After careful evaluation, the winners were declared as follows: Hruyia Irene of Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Kohima (first), Monoteo Ritse of Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Kohima (second), and Vikusier Kuotsu of St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Kohima (third).
In the non-competitive category, Ezewe Chirhah from Cherry Blossom School and Vikhopi Sakhrie from Jo Foundation Inclusive School also presented commendable works on the theme.
Chief Guest Col Manoj Sankhyan, Commandant of 13 Assam Rifles, lauded the participants for their creative interpretation of peace and unity and appreciated the Lions Club of Kohima for organising the initiative. He encouraged the Club to continue promoting youth engagement through such platforms.
Lions Club President, Lion Oken Jeet Sandham, thanked the participating schools for their enthusiasm and said the Club aims to include more institutions in future editions. Guest of Honour, Hmingthansanga, Programme Executive of Doordarshan Kendra, Nagaland, also attended the event.
The programme began with a prayer by National Teachers’ Award recipient Mimi Yhoshu, followed by a welcome address and contest briefing by Lion Max Marius Menuose-o, Contest Chairperson. The vote of thanks was delivered by Neivozonuo Zao, and the closing prayer by Kopele Tepa.
The top three winning posters from Kohima will advance to the regional and national rounds, with the final selection to be made at the Lions International Headquarters. The international winner will receive a major cash award and citation, along with travel sponsorship to the global award ceremony. Twenty-three merit awardees worldwide will also receive cash prizes and citations.
