Tseminyu, March 6 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu Japheth Woch has informed that a Mahila Jan Sunwai (public hearing) will be conducted in the district on March 9 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall from 9 am. The hearing is being organised as part of a nationwide initiative of the National Commission for Women, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Nagaland State Commission for Women.
According to the official notification, the programme will be chaired by the chairperson and members of the Nagaland State Commission for Women. During the hearing, pending complaints pertaining to the district will be taken up along with walk-in complaints from women.
The hearing aims to address grievances and complaints relating to various issues affecting women, including sexual harassment at workplaces and in public places, domestic violence and family-related disputes, cybercrime against women such as cyberstalking and online harassment, marital rights of women, mental health concerns, emotional abuse and psychosocial distress, gender-based discrimination and violence, welfare schemes and other grievances relating to the safety, dignity, rights and welfare of women.
The deputy commissioner has directed all concerned departments to extend necessary cooperation, ensure the presence of responsible officers and widely disseminate information so that women with grievances can attend and present their complaints before the commission.
The circular stated that the initiative is aimed at ensuring timely redressal of grievances and safeguarding the rights and dignity of women.
