Kohima, August 25 (MExN): Honorary Treasurer of the Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA), Neingulie Nakhro, represented Nagaland at the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) Commentators Workshop 2026 held from August 20 to 22 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
Nakhro was nominated by the NAA to participate in the three-day workshop, organised as part of the AFI’s efforts to develop a professional ecosystem of athletics commentators and announcers across the country. The workshop was led by internationally acclaimed broadcaster Richard Newman and Olympic medallist and Emmy-winning broadcaster Shannon Rowbury. Participants received training on various aspects of athletics broadcasting, including live commentary and in-stadium announcing.
A practical session was also held at Kalinga Stadium during the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver, Bhubaneswar 2026. The session provided participants with first-hand exposure to the preparation and real-time communication required during an international athletics event featuring more than 180 athletes from over 20 countries.
The Nagaland Athletics Association said Nakhro’s participation was a “meaningful learning opportunity” that would contribute to strengthening the athletics ecosystem in Nagaland and increasing the availability of skilled personnel for athletics events and communication.
The association congratulated Nakhro on his participation and said it would continue to support initiatives aimed at professional development and the growth of athletics in Nagaland and across India.
