LSU calls for school closure on April 14

WOKHA, APRIL 5 (MExN): The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has instructed all educational institutions within Wokha district to remain closed on April 14 to commemorate the LSU Black Day and the closing ceremony of the 24th edition of the LSU Martyr’s Trophy. In a press release, the LSU explained that the day serves as a poignant reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made by Late Thungkomo Ezung of Longsa village and Late Chumdamo Tungoe of Phiro village who laid down their lives for the noble cause of our people, upholding the values of freedom, justice and equality for which they sacrificed. On the occasion, the union invited students of classes 9 and above from all schools and colleges within Wokha town to join in paying tribute to the martyrs at Public Ground, Wokha, starting from 11 am. 

NIPF condemns

Dimapur, April 5 (MExN): The Nagaland Indigenous People's Forum (NIPF) has condemned the March 27 incident, wherein a 21 year old girl from Manipur was allegedly molested by a person from Bihar, in Kohima. The NIPF in its condemnation note said, “We the indigenous people are no longer safe in our own place.” The Forum appealed to all the right thinking citizens/organization to condemn such barbaric act. It also appealed the law enforcing agencies to take stringent actions against the culprit, so that this kind of incident do not occurs in the days to come.
