ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Peren organised training on ‘mushroom cultivation as sustainable tool for livelihood enhancement’ at KVK Jalukie on March 24 as part of of the ‘Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week’ programme. The event was addressed by Dr KL Meena Principal Scientist & Head, KVK Peren and Dr Prashant Kalal, SMS-Fruit Science, KVK Peren. Z James Kikon, CTO-Soil Science, KVK Peren delivered technical aspect of mushroom cultivation with low-cost investment. Inputs such as mushroom spawn and grow bags were distributed to the 53 participants of the Peren district.
ICAR-KVK Peren conducted soil health campaign in Ngwalwa village community hall on March 22 as part of Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week. During the campaign, Z, James Kikon, Chief Technical Officer, Soil Science spoke on various indicators of soil health viz., Soil Organic matter, Chemical environment, Physical environment and biological environment. Kiepeube Zehuny, Chairman Ngwalwa village also addressed the gathering and appraise the farmers to take full advantage of ICAR-KVK, Peren, Jalukie. Inputs were distributed to all the 50 participants. The 22 Assam Rifles Gaspani conducted a lecture cum awareness programme on basic life support at Modern College on March 28. The resource person was Major Ajenda Kumar, 22 Assam Rifles. In the awareness program, the students were taught how to administer a CPR procedure during emergencies where medical help is not immediately available and can save human lives. Students were also allowed to perform CPR on a dummy body. Inter-State Youth Exchange Programme (ISYEP) at Maharani Palace, Gaya under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan was conducted from March 21 to 25. All together 16 students from Modern College, along with two faculties participated in the programme. A two-day girls’ volley ball coaching-cum open tournament was organised by DHEW-BBBP on March 26 and 27 at Local Ground, Shamator. Altogether 22 team and 150 players participated from Shamator District. Shipong ward-II emerged as the champion with Government Higher Secondary School Ward as the runners up. DC Shamator, Chubatemjen graced the event as the special guest. The tournament was attended by various NGOs officials. (DIPR Photo) Drama and Fine Arts Cell of Unity College of Teacher Education, Dimapur observed the World Theatre Day on March 27 and 28 at the college premises. Student-teachers of 2nd semester exhibited their paintings and plays such as ‘The Wax Lady’ and ‘The Clever Friend’ were staged. NSS Unit of Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire visited the Shalom Children’s Home on March 28. The NSS Volunteers- Khamrila, Lumliba Sangtam and Khatiba shared on career, mental health and hygiene with the children. The NSS Unit of 20 volunteers, as part of their extension service engaged with the children through fun activities and motivational talks. NSS Program Officer, Gagan Chandra Mishra distributed items of daily needs to 13 children.State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organized a two day training program on “Management Practices of Silkworm and Silk using Traditional & Innovative Applications” from March 27-28. At the training, Vilhousienuo Khro, DSO, Kohima covered topics on Cultivation Technology & Management of Host Plant Castor, Kessari and Disinfection of Rearing House and Equipment Rearing Technology. The participants were taken for a field visit to Sericulture Farm, Dhansiripar, Chümoukedima led by Zhipen, EO Farm Incharge. Certificates were distributed to the trainees by Dr Watimongla Jamir, Director SAMETI and Principal IETC.
