Nagaland only State without additional honorarium for Anganwadi workers

Nagaland is the only State or Union Territory in India   that does not provide any additional honorarium to Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) beyond the base amount paid by the Union Government, according to an official data.

Data provided by the Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, in the Rajya Sabha on March 26 revealed that additional honorariums were as high as Rs 10,500 per month for AWWs and Rs 6,596 for AWHs in Tamil Nadu, Rs 9,150 and Rs 5,550, respectively, in Telangana, and Rs 7,000 and Rs 4,750 in Andhra Pradesh.

Among the North-East states, Sikkim provides Rs 7,000 for AWWs and Rs 4,500 for AWHs, while in Tripura, the amount respectively ranged from ranged from Rs 3500-Rs 5946 and Rs 2750-Rs 4218  Manipur offers Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,500, respectively for AWWs and AWHs while Arunachal Pradesh offers Rs 3000 extra for both. 
Assam supplements Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,250 respectively for AWWs and AWHs while they were Rs 2,000 and Rs 1000 in Meghalaya. Even Mizram supplements Rs 450 for AWWs and Rs 250 for AHS

However, Nagaland remains at the bottom of the list with no contributions from the state government.

As per the data, the Union Government currently provides Rs 4,500 per month for AWWs at main Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), Rs 3,500 for those at mini-AWCs, and Rs 2,250 for AWHs. 

AWHs’ honorarium was also enhanced from Rs 1,500 to Rs.2,250  per month from October 2018. A performance-linked incentive of Rs 500 per month is given to AWWs and Rs 250 to AWHs.
