
Kohima, September 29 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland, Office of the Director General of Police, has announced the recruitment of 1176 Constable (GD) post in the State Police through an open rally, exclusively for indigenous Naga tribes of Nagaland.
Applications will be accepted online from October 6 (12:00 noon) to November 7, 2025 (3:00 pm), as per an advertisement issued on September 29.
The recruitment will be conducted simultaneously in all district headquarters by the Departmental Recruitment Board (DRB) and authorised District Screening Committees (DSC).
Non-indigenous applicants are not eligible, it stressed.
How to apply
A non-refundable examination fee of Rs 300 will be charged and should be paid online and applications can be submitted only through the Nagaland Police Registration Portal at Nagaland Police Registration Portal (https://nagalandpolicerecruitment.in).
Application forms will not be issued from Police Headquarters or any of the Offices of the Commissioner of Police/Superintendents of Police, the announcement stressed.

Admit cards will be generated after successful online submission and can be downloaded immediately. Any applicant found submitting fake or forged documents will be disqualified at any stage of the recruitment process.
The eligibility age criteria is 18–38 years as of the advertisement date, with concessions for serving government employees as per government orders.
Applicants may apply for only one district according to the tribal ratio and must appear for physical, medical, and written tests in that district. Applications in other districts will be rejected, the advertisement informed
Minimum educational qualification: Class 6 passed for Backward Tribes; Class 8 passed for other indigenous Naga tribes.

The advertisement came amid a landmark judgment and order by the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench (GHCKB), on September 20, 2024, which invalidated the appointments of 935 constables in Nagaland made between January 2018 and October 2019 without proper advertisement.
Earlier this year, the Supreme Court dismissed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed challenging the verdict.
The HC Kohima Bench had allowed upper age limit of both the private Respondents as well as the Petitioners in the case.
