NCC Kohima Group Commander Brigadier Shantanu P Mainkar with awardees from Nagaland at the NCC-NER Annual Award Function 2024-25, held in Guwahati on March 25.
Guwahati, March 25 (MExN): Kohima Science College Autonomous (KSC) and Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Noklak were respectively adjudged the best NCC college and school in Nagaland at the annual award function of the National Cadet Corps, North Eastern Region (NCC-NER), held in Guwahati on March 25.
The two institutions were recognised for their exemplary performance, discipline, and contributions to NCC activities, according to a press release.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Sunil Kumar, Senior Division (SD)-Male, Sainik School Punglwa, and Captain TK Medoweu (Senior Wing - Female) of KSC were presented with trophies and banners as the best Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) of Nagaland.
Senior Under Officer (SUO) Imtisanen Jamir of Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, was awarded second-best SD Cadet in the entire North Eastern Region (NER) and best in Nagaland for 2024-25.
The Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Assam, Nandita Garlosa, presented trophies and banners to ANOs, cadets, educational institutions with NCC, and NCC staff awardees.
As per the releases the event recognised the best cadets for exceptional leadership and performance and honoured the best ANOs for their pivotal role in mentorship, tireless service, and contributions to NCC and the country as a whole, the release said.
A total of 55 awards were presented on the occasion celebrating the outstanding achievements and contributions of ANOs, educational institutions, cadets, and NCC staff from all seven North East states throughout 2024-25, it added.
Addressing the occasion as the Chief Guest, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya lauded the awardees for their dedication and commitment.
“The NCC plays a crucial role in developing leadership, discipline, and patriotism among youth. Today, we honour those who have shown exceptional commitment to these values,” he added.
Senior Army dignitaries, including Major General Gagan Deep, Sena Medal, ADG NCC NER, and all NCC Group Commanders of NCC-NER, also graced the event.
