Dimapur, April 9 (MExN): The Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC) Ltd on Thursday organised its second one-day annual conference of officers at its head office complex in Dimapur, focusing on reviewing ongoing initiatives and strengthening strategies for the growth of the sector.
The conference, held at the NHHDC headquarters in Dimapur, aimed at enhancing coordination among officers and promoting the handloom and handicrafts sector in the state.
Addressing the gathering as the guest of honour, NHHDC Chairman Shri Prasilie Pienyu underscored the importance of collective efforts in empowering artisans and preserving traditional crafts. He described the conference as a key platform to review achievements and address challenges.
Pienyu appreciated the initiatives of the Managing Director in organising capacity-building programmes and urged officers to remain sincere, responsible and dedicated in discharging their duties. He also stressed the need for improved efficiency, transparency, teamwork, innovation and stronger marketing strategies to promote Nagaland’s handloom and handicrafts at national and international levels.
Managing Director Er Y Lipongse Thongtsar, in his keynote address, highlighted policy directions, innovation and effective implementation of various schemes for the benefit of weavers and artisans.
He emphasised the collective responsibility of officers towards the corporation, themselves and the public, and called for fostering a sense of unity and mutual understanding.
Thongtsar noted that the conference serves as an important platform to broaden perspectives, gain insights into the functioning of different sections and emporia, and present an overall view of the corporation’s activities. He also suggested that such annual conferences be continued in the future.
A key highlight of the programme was detailed presentations by Emporium Managers, who shared performance reports, achievements and challenges of their respective units. The presentations provided insights into sales, customer engagement and strategies to improve outreach and market presence.
Section heads from the head office also presented reports outlining progress, key activities and future plans, facilitating discussions and helping identify areas for improvement and collaboration.
The conference further focused on strengthening cluster-based development, enhancing market access and adopting modern marketing platforms to promote handicrafts more effectively.
The NHHDC reiterated its commitment to promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage and supporting weavers and artisans through sustainable and inclusive development initiatives.
