DIMAPUR, APRIL 10 (MExN): A consultative meeting was held between the Naga National Political Alliance (NNPA) and Sümi frontal organisations in Dimapur on April 8.
The NNPA was led by Hokato Vusshe, Ato Kilonser, NSCN-K (Khango-Hokato); Akato Chophy, President, NSCN/GPRN (Akato); Kiyelho Wokhami, Ato Kilonser, NPGN/NNC (MK); and Nupavi Achumi, Ato Kilonser, UGN/NNC (PB).
A host of Council of Kilonsers, Senior Military Officers and Central Secretariat staff also attended the meeting.
The Sümi organisations were represented by officials from the Sümi Hoho, Sümi Kükami Hoho, Western Sümi Hoho, Western Sümi Kükami Hoho, and Western Sümi Youth Front.
A press release from the MIP NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Hokato) informed that at the meeting, Hokato highlighted the current scenario of the Naga political issue and the role of the NNPA in vigorously pursuing an early solution with the Government of India (GoI).
He also briefly presented a few important demands put forth by the NNPA to the GoI in the larger interest of the Naga people, it said.
Hokato urged all the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to work towards the common interest of the Nagas and stated that the “position he holds today is just an assignment and he will be the first person to sacrifice his chair” if all the NPGs come together for a unified Naga Political Solution.
Acknowledging the role of civil society organisations, he requested the leaders to work selflessly and cohesively towards bridging the gap in the already fragmented Naga society.
Meanwhile, expressing gratitude for responding to the call of the consultative meeting, Akato acknowledged the leaders of the Sümi Frontal Organisations for their time and efforts in maintaining peace and working for the welfare of the people in these troubled times.
As per the release, the leaders of the Sümi Frontal Organisations also acknowledged the workers of the NPGs for their “yeomen service” to the Naga cause and their continuous efforts towards achieving a final solution that is “acceptable and honourable,” while heeding the call for peace in the land.
Stating that the issue of multiple NPGs is becoming a grave concern for the general populace, the CSO leaders also urged all groups to unite and work selflessly for the common good of the Nagas, it added.
