‘No hope without eliminating faction & fraction in Naga society’

CSU KSC Jotsoma celebrates Golden Jubilee

The Chakhesang Students’ Union of the Kohima Science College Jotsoma celebrated its golden jubilee under the theme “Innovate, Motivate, Accelerate” with MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero as the honoured guest on April 12.

Addressing the gathering at KSCJ Auditorium, MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero expressed deep concern over division in Naga society. 

“There are fractions amongst the leaders, even in the field of religion. There are fractions in the civil society setup and also fractions or factions in the national workers’ organizations,” said Dr Mero. “This is the greatest hurdle and also the greatest stumbling block in the long-protracted Indo-Naga solution,” he said. 

Making his observation, Dr Mero said “I do not see much ray of hope if we do not eliminate the term of faction and fraction in our Naga society.”

He also challenged the young people to have long-sighted vision “when it comes to you to bring all the Nagas together.” That way, we will have a better place and a better world to live in, he added.

Dr Mero, who is also alumni of KSC, thanked the pioneers of the CSU KSCJ who have nurtured this union thus far. “It is all because of them, we are having this celebration today,” he said.

Stating that jubilee is a time for forgiveness amongst friends if there is any misunderstanding, he said “It is a time for us to come out from the darkness of life to light of life.”

Comparing 50 years back down the line with the present day in the field of education, he said that many of the elders might have walked miles and miles for pursuance of education.

“For communication, now it is just a strike of a minute. You get message and you get the required information, but 50 years back, it takes time to reach from our dear ones, up to the extent of months through postal services,” he said.

Talking on advanced technology, he said “Artificial Intelligence has made all of us easier.”

He said that AI has made all of us comfortable and boosted our life in every means.

Dr. Mero, however said that the rate of competition has become very high in the present society, and also mounting with lots of mental pressure.

“But in the midst of all the advancement, if you have faith in God, if you are diligent, consistent and hardworking, I believe and I hope you’ll be able to achieve the desired aim in your life, Dr. Mero said.
Further, Dr. Mero also urged upon the students to be rooted in “our Chakhesang identity and culture.”

Earlier, Senowekha K. Kenye, 1st president CSU KSCJ (1975-1979 batch) and Director (Rtd), Geology & Mining, Govt of Nagaland released the Golden Jubilee souvenir while CSU KSCJ president Tewe Medo delivered welcome address.

The celebration also witnessed invocation & jubilee consecration by Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, senior Pastor, CBCMH Kohima, documentary screening,  indigenous tune by Vekriilii Nakro & Hiinulii Hoshi, euphonic presentation from Angami Students’ Union KSCJ, concluding tribute by Dr. Wenyitso Kapfo, advisor CSU KSCJ, benediction by Khatsoyi Sapu, pastor, Phiihgi Baptist Church and golden jubilee banquet & social gathering.
