KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 24 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has strongly condemned the death threat and derogatory remarks directed at Dr Rosemary Dzuvichu, a prominent women’s leader and Adviser to the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA).
The party described the acts, both the threat and the online abusive comments, as a direct assault on the dignity of Naga women and democratic values that allow citizens to speak, organise, and advocate for reform. It said such behaviour is not only morally unacceptable but also constitutes a criminal offence under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, which prohibit online harassment, threats, and hate speech.
The NPF urged the State Government, law-enforcement agencies, and the Cyber Crime Police to take swift action to trace the origin of the posts, register an FIR, prosecute the offenders under the law, and ensure adequate protection for Dr Dzuvichu and other women activists facing intimidation. It said prompt action would send a strong message that the rule of law prevails over fear and coercion.
The party added that allowing such intimidation to go unchecked would embolden those seeking to silence women’s voices and undermine progress in Nagaland. It expressed full solidarity with Dr Dzuvichu and the NMA, and said such acts of cowardice would not weaken the collective spirit for justice and equality.
