NSA condemns ‘fratricidal killing’, urges restraint and rule of law

New Delhi, April 4 (MExN): The Naga Scholars' Association (NSA) has expressed deep anguish over the reported “fratricidal killing” of four Naga cadres and strongly condemned the subsequent incidents of mob action.

In a statement, the Association described the internal violence as deeply unfortunate, stating that such developments undermine the collective aspirations, unity, and dignity of the Naga people, particularly at a critical juncture in the Naga political process.

It cautioned that such incidents risk eroding trust, reconciliation, and the shared sense of purpose necessary for a peaceful and honourable resolution. While acknowledging that grief and anger in the aftermath may be understandable, the NSA maintained that retaliatory responses and mob justice only aggravate divisions and perpetuate cycles of violence.

The Association called on all stakeholders to exercise restraint, uphold the rule of law, and ensure a fair, impartial, and time-bound investigation into the incident. It stressed that accountability must be established through due process.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, the NSA underscored the need for truth, accountability, and healing. It further emphasised the importance of moral clarity, responsible leadership, and collective discipline at the present juncture.

The Association also appealed to all sections of society to remain calm, act with reason, and reaffirm their commitment to peace, unity, and reconciliation.
