Kohima, August 20 (MExN): The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) is conducting a three-day training on Knowledge Management and Communication (KMC) for selected staff from all districts at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Kohima.
The training, which began on August 19, is aimed at strengthening documentation of field experiences and highlighting stories and initiatives from rural areas. The participants are serving as KMC Point Persons for their respective districts.
Delivering the introductory note during the inaugural session, Additional Mission Director, NSRLM, Theose Thongtsar highlighted the importance of maintaining proper records and documenting experiences from the field.
"Nowadays, any Department or Organisation is expected to maintain proper records and reports, either as data in web portals or in the form of case studies and narrative reports," he said. Thongtsar said effective documentation should focus on the process, key learnings emerging from challenges, and the outcomes and impacts that result in visible changes.
He called upon the KMC Point Persons to remain vigilant and document key processes to create a healthy ecosystem of knowledge sharing and cross-learning. He also identified knowledge storage and sharing as a major challenge in Nagaland. "The State Mission should focus on maintaining a cache of good practices which can be replicated and through which innovations can be expanded," he said.
Thongtsar also encouraged the team to initiate a quarterly newsletter of NSRLM to share rural initiatives across various platforms. Laptops and cameras were also distributed to the participants during the inaugural session.
The training will continue until August 21 and will cover case study templates based on guidelines of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) under the Ministry of Rural Development.
Sessions on various verticals will be conducted by vertical managers Imonenla Imkong Phom, Atenjen Lemtur, Rajuselie Lhousa, Ebibeni N Humtsoe and Khriezovonuo Lhoungu. The participants will also receive training in basic reporting formats and creative writing, with Vishü Rita Krocha as resource person, along with sessions on basic photography and short documentary-making by Vitoto Sakhrie.
