Prince of peace

In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with God and the WORD was God. This very WORD became flesh and dwelled among us (John 1 : 1, 14). As Isaiah described about this WORD that He is Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isa. 9 : 6). Jesus Christ is the Eternal Existence with the Father and with the Holy Sprit. His life didn’t begin at Bethlehem, but He was from the beginning as He told to the confronting Jews before Abraham was I AM (John 8 : 58).

Jesus Christ is the eternal King (Prince of Peace), but we see in the Israel history that sometimes He handover the Kingship to men because of their stubbornness, however resulted in utter failure. Genesis 12 : 1 says that the Living God has called out Abraham out of his Country and among his people, chosen him as His special people. Latter on his son Isaac, Isaac’s son Jacob which God has called his name Israel and these children of Israel went down to Egypt and lived there for 430 years. While they were under bondage, God raised Moses and Aaron to led the children of Israel to the promise land flowing with milk and honey even though they themselves couldn’t enter the promise land because of their sins. God has chosen Joshua to succeed Moses and with his leadership the Israelites conquered the Gentiles those who were living in Cannan and were well settled in the land after which Joshua and Caleb divided the Land according to their tribes.

During these periods there was a Theocratic rule where God Himself was ruling over His chosen people. With His omniscience He didn’t destroy the heathens completely but left them as thorns for the children of Israelites and the Judges acted as conqueror and ruler. When the Amonites, Amorites, Jebusites, Hittittes, Midianites and the Cannanites attacked and they fall in the hands of their enemies the Israelites cried out and the Lord raised up such as Jephthah, Samson, Gideon etc and delivered the children of the Israelites. In those days God Himself fought for Israel, because He was their King, as we see from the life of Gideon, when the men of Israel said to Gideon Rule over us, he says, I will not rule over you, the Lord shall rule over you (Judges 8 : 22, 23). Therefore, the Israelites survived as Nations as long as God rule over them.

Nevertheless, there was a time when the Israelites told to Samuel “Give us a King” it greatly displeased Samuel and he pray to God for their demands and the Lord said, Samuel they have not rejected you but they have rejected Me that I should not reign over them (1 Sam. 8 : 4-7). The Bible says when the Men begin to reign on this earth in place of Jehovah, there were very few kings like David, Hezekiah and almost all the kings both in the Northern Kingdom and Southern Kingdom committed sins against God and rebelled against God, so due to this reason the Lord God got angry and scattered the Israelites to the whole over the world and removed them from the face of the earth. However the Israelites re-gathered as Nation and got an Independent in 1947, yet their final gathering will take place in the Millennium. God said that in the latter days He will exalt Israel above the Gentiles in respect of material blessings, and in socio-economic and political life. While God was pronouncing the blessing upon Abraham saying that all the nations of the earth shall be blessed through him, He also gave a boundary which we can find in Genesis 15 : 18-21, this promise land has not yet fully occupied, it will culminate only in the Millennium. All these things will fulfill in the Millennium when Jesus Christ the only God will become King and rule on this literal earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. When the Prince of Peace will ultimately rule on this earth there will be perfect Peace on this earth, because Christ Himself is the very PEACE (Eph. 2 : 14).

The Kingdom of God is eternal. The Bible says, at last the Lord Jesus Christ will deliver the Kingdom to God the Father, that God may be all in all (1Cor.15:24-28). The Trinity better Tri-Unity because of threeness and oneness. The Bible declares God is one, that means God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are One, distinct in persons, different individuals and their functions are different but yet inseparable, they are equal in essence and attributes. So as we see from this doctrine of Trinity Jesus Christ the second person in the Trinity will be an eternal King with His visible body because the truth is God is One, hence Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace will be an eternal King over His people with all eternity  (Dan. 2 : 44; 7 : 13, 14, 26, 27; Rev. 11 : 15; Luke 1 : 31:33).

Application to our personal life: Let this Prince of Peace be born in your heart. Let this Prince of Peace rule in your heart. We are shouting for Peace, our slogan is Peace, but lot of hatred, discrimination and killing. We are losing the Christian identity, and nailing the Lord Jesus Christ afresh on the Cross daily. During this Christmas season we must welcome Christ in our hearts, in our family in our church and in our Organization, and repair the broken altar, and once again with a penitent heart receive the Prince of Peace, and result in loving each other, and acknowledge one another that we are brothers and sisters in Christ and lives in tranquility.

The Israel history shows that God wants to be King over His people but when they have rejected God and made a human King by their choice they could not stand and they were completely destroyed from the face of the earth. PEACE will prevail in our lives only when Christ reigned in our lives as our King. Because Christ Himself is Peace as Augustine of Hippo says, “There is no peace without the Prince of Peace.”
