Pungro, October 7 (MExN): The three-day Pungro Inter-School Sports Meet 2026 began at the Public Ground, Pungro town, on October 6 under the theme “Planting Dreams, Building Champions,” organised by the Pungro Sports Association.
The inaugural programme featured an opening ceremony act by Mt Horeb Baptist School, an invocation by Missionary to Nepal Tsukila, a welcome address by Pungro Sports Association president Kinan and a drill display by Christian School, Pungro.
Addressing the gathering as special guest, NPF 60 A/C Pungro-Kiphire president Khamong urged students not to let their geographical location limit their potential. Quoting “Dreams do not read maps,” he cited sportspersons Mary Kom of Manipur and Neeraj Chopra of Haryana as examples of individuals who rose from humble beginnings to represent India on the global stage.
He said dreams nurtured in Pungro could likewise reach the State, national and international stages.
The programme concluded with the oath-taking ceremony and formal declaration of the Inter-School Sports Meet 2026 open.
