Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): The All Sümi Students’ Union (SKK) has called on the Police Headquarters, Nagaland, to publish the individual marks of candidates who appeared for the recent police recruitment examination, stating that such disclosure would ensure transparency and clarity for aspirants.
In a press release, the union said it “acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of the Director General of Police, Nagaland and State Government for overseeing the recruitment process.” It added that the union “recognizes the responsibilities involved and expresses its gratitude for the conduct of the examination.”
According to the union, the recruitment notification for the posts was issued on October 7, 2025. The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) was conducted from January 7 to 13, 2026, followed by the written examination on January 20. The final results were declared on February 25.
The union noted that nearly one month was taken for the evaluation of answer scripts after the written examination.
However, the ASSU (SKK) said it has concerns regarding the non-disclosure of individual marks. It stated that the union “respectfully calls upon the Police Headquarters, Nagaland, to reconsider its directive and ensure that the individual marks of all candidates should be officially published by the District centers, so that the aggrieved candidates can have the clear understanding of the results after the revaluation by the PHQ.”
While acknowledging the scale of the recruitment process, the union maintained that transparency in such examinations is necessary.
“While SKK appreciates the effort involved in conducting such a large-scale recruitment process, it firmly maintains that every aspirant has the right to know his or her individual marks. Transparency and accountability are fundamental principles of any fair recruitment system,” the statement said. It further added that “Restricting the disclosure of marks creates confusion and raises unnecessary doubts among candidates who have participated in good faith.”
The union also suggested reforms for future examinations.
“In this regard, SKK strongly urges the concerned authorities to adopt the OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) system for future written examinations,” it stated. The union added that the use of such a system would “ensure faster evaluation, reduce human error, and significantly enhance transparency and credibility in the recruitment process.”
