SNRC inaugurated at Naga Hospital Kohima

Kohima, March 2 (MExN): Dr Mereninla Senlem, Principal Director Health & Family Welfare, inaugurated the State Newborn Resource Centre (SNRC) at Naga Hospital Kohima on February 27.

According to a press release, “The establishment of the State Newborn Resource Centre (SNRC) marks a historic milestone in the State’s commitment to safeguarding newborn lives and strengthening neonatal healthcare services.” It stated that the SNRC has been established as “a centre of Excellence dedicated to advancing newborn health outcomes across the State.”

The release informed that “The SNRC shall serve as the apex facility for neonatal care in the State, integrating upgraded Special Newborn Care Units and advance clinical infrastructure.” It further stated that “The establishment of a spate SNRC facility, independent of the main Intensive Care unit, will significantly enhance infection control measured and improve survival outcomes for vulnerable newborns.”

Stating that the primary objective of the SNRC is to reduce the infant mortality rate and eliminate preventable neonatal deaths, the release noted that “The Facility will function as a model centre for all SNCUs and Newborn Stabilization Units (NBSUs) across districts supporting: capacity building of healthcare professionals, structured mentoring through a hub-and-spoke model, Facility-Based Newborn Care (FBNC) training programs, standardisation of quality newborn care services state wise.”

The State also acknowledged the support of Toyota Kirloskar, which has contributed critical biomedical equipment to strengthen neonatal care services. It added that the planned solarization of the facility through the SELCO Foundation reflects a commitment to sustainable healthcare infrastructure.
