KOHIMA, OCTOBER 2 (MExN): The Voluntary Blood Donors Association Nagaland (VBDAN) in association with Blood Centre, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) observed National Voluntary Blood Donation Day at Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Sechu-Zubza on October 1 under the theme “ Give Blood, Give Hope: Together we save lives.”

Gracing the occasion, Dr. Avila Sangtam, M.D. Transfusion Medicine, NHAK, emphasized the importance of blood donation, stating that "someone somewhere needs blood, whether it's a sick baby, a bleeding patient, or a person suffering from cancer."

Dr. Avila also highlighted the time frame for donating blood, noting that there is a mandatory gap of 3 months for male donors and 4 months for female donors. Dr. Avila pointed out that blood donation not only helps save lives but also provides benefits to the donors themselves.

"After donating blood, donors experience a sense of peace, knowing that they have helped save someone's life,” she said and encouraged everyone to come together to help save lives through blood donation.

Earlier, 78 Battalion CRPF Medical Officer Dr. TY Singh said that blood donation is the greatest service to humanity.

Singh also expressed gratitude to the brave soldiers, who, apart from safeguarding the nation, have been donating blood to save countless lives.

Dr. Sangita Mary Rajah, Chief Medical Officer (SG) and Commandant, highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation.
21 CRPF personnel donated blood, emphasizing the significance of kindness in saving lives.

The program was chaired by Vincent Yhome, Technical Supervisor, NHAK. Akhale Vizol Khamo, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland State Branch  proposed vote of thanks.

The event culminated in a pledge-taking ceremony, led by SH R.V. Philip, 2nd-in-Command, 78th Battalion, CRPF. The participants vowed to promote the noble cause of blood donation.
