KOHIMA, MARCH 31 (MExN): The Department of Water Resources (WRD) held a farewell ceremony Monday for outgoing Chief Engineer K. Hutoi Sema at the Chief Engineer’s conference hall in Kohima.
Reflecting on his career, Sema said he witnessed policies take shape and watched plans evolve from mere ideas on paper to impactful community projects. He recalled embracing challenging roles as opportunities for growth, noting his formative experience as a project officer for the National Watershed Development Project for Rainfed Areas (NWDPRA) during his initial field visit to Tizit.
"Our work is not just about constructing structures; it's about creating a future for coming generations," Sema said. He described leading the department as both challenging and rewarding, highlighting his experience at the Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Services Association (FONSESA), where he served in various leadership roles, including Joint Secretary, Vice President, and President.
Advisor of the Water Resources Department, Tonpang Ozukum, commended Sema’s more than 35 years of dedicated service, highlighting his technical expertise and visionary leadership that significantly shaped the state's water resources sector.
"His unwavering dedication and exceptional leadership have inspired and shaped the department," Ozukum said. Ozukum described Sema as a mentor and a source of encouragement, praising his humility, integrity, and passion for service.
Commissioner and Secretary Gregory Thejawelie, IAS, also praised Sema for his dedication, leadership, and strategic vision, calling his contributions instrumental to the department's successes.
