Widespread condemnation erupts over rape- murder of young mother

DIMAPUR, APRIL 9 (MExN): Condemnations from various organizations continue to pour in following the suspected rape and murder of a young mother from Mhaikam Village on April 7.

BJYM: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Nagaland, condemned the heinous act, describing it as an assault on society’s values and the dignity of women. The organization emphasized that such brutal crimes must be met with the harshest possible legal response and called for the authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly identified, arrested, and prosecuted. BJYM also urged the Government of Nagaland to adopt proactive measures to ensure the safety of women and to prevent such crimes in the future.

“This incident not only shatters the core of our social values but also raises grave concerns about the safety and security of women in our state,” it stated. 

TSUD: The Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) expressed deep dismay at the tragedy, describing the crime as a violation of the sanctity of life. The organization stood in solidarity with the victim’s family and the Zeliangrong community, urging law enforcement agencies to take immediate action to apprehend the perpetrators. TSUD also called on the broader community to rise against violence and support the authorities in bringing the culprits to justice.

TUDNC: The Tenyimi Union of Dimapur, Niuland, and Chümoukedima also condemned the crime, calling for a swift and thorough investigation. The union emphasized the importance of justice for the victim and support for her grieving family, urging society as a whole to protect women and create a safer environment for all citizens. 

“We also urge community leaders, civil society organizations, and concerned citizens to stand united against such crimes. This is not just a legal matter—it is a moral and social one. We must collectively build a society where women feel safe, valued, and protected,” the condemnation note read.

ZCN: The Zeme Council Nagaland (ZCN) joined in the condemnation, describing the act as an affront to societal values and a grave violation of the victim’s dignity. The ZCN appealed to the government and law enforcement to take immediate steps to ensure the safety and security of women and to expedite the investigation to ensure justice is served.

AAGBU/DRYO: In a similar tone, the Aqahuto Area GB’s Union (AAGBU) and the Dimapur Rengma Youth Organisation (DRYO) expressed their outrage, with both organizations demanding swift action from law enforcement and urging the community to unite in condemning the crime. DRYO also called for a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure accountability for the perpetrators.

OFJB: The Oasis Federation, Jalukie Block, also condemned the brutal murder, urging that the culprit be caught and brought to justice promptly. They called for a collective effort to create a safer community for all and expressed solidarity with the victim’s family.

 

WCYO: The Western Chakhesang Youth Organization (WCYO) condemned the crime in the strongest terms, emphasizing that such acts of violence have no place in society. WCYO demanded a speedy investigation and justice for the victim and extended their condolences to her family.

RMO: The Rongmei Mothers’ Organization (RMO), along with its federating units, also strongly condemned the inhuman act, describing the crime as one that has caused deep resentment and insecurity within the community. The organization called for immediate action by the authorities to ensure that the perpetrator is apprehended, emphasizing that justice delayed is justice denied. It expressed solidarity with the victim's family, offering prayers for comfort and wisdom during this time of grief.

CMA: The Chakhesang Mothers' Association (CMA) vehemently condemned the horrific incident of rape and murder committed to an innocent mother at Pimla on April 7.

“This heinous act is not only an attack on an innocent individual but also a direct attack on the safety and dignity of women in our society. Such crime breeds fear, insecurity and trauma, reinforcing a culture of violence that must be eradicated. We cannot remain silent in the face of such injustice,” the CMA stated. The CMA demanded that the perpetrators be persecuted to the fullest extent of the law and urged the authorities to take prompt and decisive action that justice is served without delay.

DRSU: The Dimapur Rengma Students' Union (DRSU) while condemning the brutal rape and murder of April 7, expressed outrage, calling the crime a gross violation of human dignity.

The DRSU urged authorities to take swift action to identify and prosecute the perpetrators, stressing that justice must be firm and immediate. It also called on the public and community leaders to unite against such atrocities and ensure the victim’s family receives the support they deserve.

WSH: The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), while condemning the crime in the strongest terms, called for immediate action against the perpetrators, stressing that such inhumane acts have no place in a civilized society. The incident, highlighting the alarming rise of violence against women, has created an atmosphere of fear and trauma. The WSH urged law enforcement to take swift, decisive action to ensure the safety of women and conduct a thorough, impartial investigation to apprehend those responsible. The union also called for the severest punishment for the culprits to deter future crimes.

NSWON: The National Socialist Women’s Organization of Nagalim (NSWON) has expressed shock and outrage over the brutal rape and murder of a young mother from Maikham Village on April 7. Such violence against women is deeply disturbing, and the organization condemned the act in the strongest terms, stating that no woman deserves such a tragic fate.

NSWON expressed solidarity with the victim’s pain, saying the crime hurts all women. The organization called on law enforcement to spare no effort in identifying and prosecuting the perpetrator.

DSC: Condemning the April 7 brutal murder, the Dimapur Sümi Council (DSC) called for a thorough, impartial investigation, swift justice, and stringent punishment for those responsible. The council also extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, offering solidarity during this difficult time. Additionally, the DSC raised concerns over the rising incidence of violence against women and urged law enforcement agencies to take decisive action to safeguard women’s security and well-being.

CLEH: The Chumoukedima Lotha Eloe Hoho (CLEH) condemned the brutal rape and murder of a woman near Pimla village, Chümoukedima district, calling it a barbaric act with no place in society. The Hoho extended condolences to the grieving family and demanded a swift investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. It also urged citizens to unite in protecting the dignity and safety of women.

ZBCC: The Zeme Baptist Church Council (ZBCC) has expressed profound grief over the tragic murder a beloved member of Mhaikam Baptist Church on April 7. In a statement, the ZBCC condemned the brutal crime, describing it as an abominable and unacceptable act that violates the sacredness of life.

The Council highlighted that the murder of a dedicated church member, mother, wife, and breadwinner, has left a family shattered and a young child without a mother. "This violent crime is not only a violation of the right to life but also an unbecoming incident in our Christian-majority society," the statement read.
